Round 9

Later start for our U12’s and we welcomed a couple of fresh faces. It was great to see the players share the ball around to ensure everyone have an enjoyable experience.
Our U15’s were dominant from the start once again, once again finding themselves 60 points up early. Again. it was our ball movement and the preparedness of our players to handball forward to increase the speed of the ball that was fantastic to observe and cheer on.
Best: Leo Ellison, Cooper Hein, Evan McNeil, Darcy Ellison, Blake O’Halloran & Zane McKerrow
The 2’s continued on their merry way with a comprehensive victory. We welcomed back Toby Gray and Rhys Carmichael who played both ends and James Harvey was dominant early with his pace on show.
Best: James Harvey, Justin Davies, Rhys Carmichael, Toby Gray, Matt Davies & Zac McClure-Page
The seniors had a must win game to keep their hold on 3rd place, Moulamein came out full of run and had the momentum. Credit to our guys, they were able to wrestle this momentum back in our favour in the second half of the quarter to go into ¼ time with a 3-goal lead. We managed to keep them goalless in the second quarter and pile on 6 of our own to set up the match.
Best: James Russo, Adam Thomson, Ethan Slater, Ben Derbas, Jame Stewart & Ben Gillingham
In the netball, we started the day with our enthusiastic and energetic Under 12’s who were as dominant as ever as we took on the Swans. Awards this week went to Mabel, Mia, Pippy, Maya and Jade.
The Under 14’s came out firing, doubling Moulamein’s score in the first quarter and setting the tone for a dominant performance. Elada Jacques and Imi Collier were unstoppable in the mid-court, moving the ball with precision and finesse. In the second and third quarters, our strong defensive efforts, led by the ever-reliable Eve Murray, limited Moulamein to just five goals. Our consistent and composed shooter Frankie Bray delivered another classy performance, with her sharp accuracy contributing significantly to the team’s impressive 42 goal victory.
The Under 17’s managed a massive 54 goal win against the Swans. The girls were able to keep the Swans to just 5 goals at the end of the first quarter and their upward momentum continued throughout the game. Evie McKnight was a strong opponent in the mid court, as she drove hard and applied great hands over pressure. Ivy Shea and Macy Bray were both dominant at either ends of the court, standing tall and holding their own in the goal rings. Well done girls on another massive win!
C Grade came out strong and took an 8 goal lead into halftime, building on that momentum to finish with a solid 13 goal win. The Kennedy sisters, Mila and Freya, led the way for the team — Mila was on fire in the goal circle slotting an impressive 26 goals, while Freya impressed with sharp drives and precision feeds into the goal third. A highlight of the day was seeing three generations in Ria, Ashea, and Harper take the court together, sharing a special and memorable moment as teammates.
It wasn’t B Res' best performance this weekend, trailing Moulamein for most of the match. At halftime, the margin sat at six goals, but the team continued to fight hard. The defensive duo of Bainli Galway and Kerri McDougall worked tirelessly, applying pressure and creating turnovers to help narrow the gap. Despite their efforts, the Swans proved too strong in the final quarter, extending their lead and securing a 13 goal win. Onwards and upwards from here girls!
B grade were pushed in the first quarter by the Swans, trailing Moulamein by one at quarter time. But the team responded well, finding their rhythm in the second quarter. With intense defensive pressure from Georgia Carse, we held the Swans to just 7 goals for the quarter and swung the momentum our way. From there, we continued to build, eventually running away with a 23 goal win. Ashea Budjoso was a standout for her strong drives through the mid-court and relentless defensive pressure.
Despite a few challenges this week, A Grade came out strong, leading by 6 at halftime. Lyla Morton was key through the mid-court, with her and Mila Bray applying strong defensive pressure and picking up vital intercepts. Moulamein fought back in the second half, but Lauren Morrow’s calm, consistent presence helped steady the team and secure a 5 goal win. A special mention to Mary Yates-Ward, who returned to the court seamlessly and slotted back into the team like she’d never left.
