Round 5 v Hay 23/05/26

NETBALL

13 & Under Reserve

A tough contest for our Under 13 Reserves this week, with the girls showing plenty of determination right until the final whistle. After trailing early, the team continued to fight hard each quarter and never gave up, going down 10–15 in a competitive game. Mahli Millard worked tirelessly in the ring, while Sunny Spitty brought great pressure and intensity around the court. Moppy Pappin continued to impress with her effort and teamwork, and Lily Cockfield showed fantastic determination all game. Plenty of positives to take into next week!

13 & Under

A dominant performance from our Under 13s this week, coming away with a fantastic 54–21 win. The girls came out strong from the first centre pass and continued to build each quarter with great teamwork, pressure and ball movement all over the court. Pippy Morton was outstanding with her work rate and determination, while Ayla Wishart used her speed and skill to create plenty of opportunities through the midcourt. Meeka Fowler impressed with her strong defensive pressure, and Zoe Hunter played another consistent game, working hard in every contest. A great team effort by all the girls!

15 & Under

A strong four-quarter performance from our Under 15s saw the girls come away with a fantastic 41–25 win. After a tight opening quarter, the team lifted their intensity and ball movement, building their lead each quarter with great teamwork and pressure across the court. Eve Murray was outstanding with her work rate and composure, while Ella Henry provided plenty of drive through the midcourt. Frankie Bray impressed with her strong defensive pressure, and Elada Jaques played an important role with her consistent effort and smart passages of play. Imi Collier also had a great game, working tirelessly and contributing right across the court. A great team effort by all the girls!

17 & Under

17s came up against a familiar rival in a rematch of last years grand final and had their work cut out for them early. Hay applied strong defensive pressure and it took the girls a little to settle and find their groove. Lex McKnight pulled in some phenomenal intercepts in the C, Macy Bray was solid in defence to win back plenty of ball and Sadie Spitty was a strong target in goals and got to welcome her sister Olive Spitty to the team. It’s great to see the sister sets out on court together in the 17s. Well done on another strong win girls, keep the momentum going!

B Reserve

The B-res side came up against an always competitive Hay team. Despite the scoreline both teams had a fair bit of the ball. Jorja took the court for her second senior game with ease, moving beautifully in goals and shooting nicely. Maddie was on fire in defence, getting her hands to so many balls.

B Grade

B Grade had a tough match on Saturday, with the final score not truly reflecting the girls’ incredible effort throughout the game. They came out in prime form, finishing the first quarter four points ahead. Hay responded strongly in the second and third quarters, and the girls eventually went down by eleven points. Kez was a pillar in defence, getting a hand to almost every ball that came her way. Bainli was also on fire in defence, even making a rare appearance in centre - something we hope becomes a more regular feature.

A Reserve

The girls started strong, matching their opponents with even intensity and determination throughout the first quarter, finishing only three goals behind at the first break. Ashea Bujdoso was a standout in the Centre position for the entire game, consistently providing strong leads, excellent direction and tireless effort across the court. Sarah Perry also played a crucial role, creating immaculate feeds into the goal circle, with her guidance and composure becoming a valuable contribution to the team’s performance. Despite the girls’ hard work and persistence throughout the match, they unfortunately went down by four goals in the end.

A Grade

The A Grade girls were put through their paces by a strong and competitive Hay side. Hay got the jump on us early and maintained the momentum throughout the game. Unfortunately losing Lauren midway through the second quarter meant the team was forced to trial some new combinations and adapt quickly. Despite the girls’ hard work and determination, we were unable to bridge the gap, eventually going down by 21 goals. Mila Bray was unanimously voted best on court, delivering an outstanding performance and executing everything asked of her and more — an absolute force all game. Alexis McKnight was strong and consistent through the midcourt, while Lyla Morton hunted hard in defence, pulling off some impressive intercepts against experienced goalers. Plenty to take away, and much more to come.

FOOTBALL

Under 12's

The Under 12s had their second win for the year against Hay. After a close contest in the first half we kicked away in the last two quarters to record a six goal victory. Award winners for the day were Ollie Hetherington, Mabel Spitty, Nash Webb, Ryder Bray, Pippy Morton and Beau Murray

Under 15's

The 15s had another convincing win, mercy ruling Hay before half time. Zane McKerrow led the way again and is starting to become a real threat to the other teams up forward. Archie McCombe was everywhere early on and really led the way around half forward and through the middle. Little Drewy (Rory Mazzarella) was a very handy inclusion for us and was busy all game through the middle. Blake O’Halloran really gave us some great run off half back and is starting to settle into his roll well. Another couple of special mentions go to Jobe Hein and Matthew Daniels both doing their rolls for the team.

Under 18's

The Under 18 boys have achieved back to back wins this week with the second win of the season against Hay. The immense pressure from the back six the whole game really gave the boys more scoring opportunities and the younger players all stepping up playing there role. The major ball winners of the day were Jed McDonald, Ned Baird, Antonio Cavallaro, Sam Nending and Reid Jolliffe. Special thanks to Charlie Elford and the Irymple boys for giving us a hand this week.

Reserves

The Seconds went down by less than a kick in a tight tussle against Hay Football Club. We came home strongly after trailing at three quarter time and drew level with only minutes remaining, however we couldn’t hit the front before Hay converted a late sealer just before the siren. Max Snowden impressed in his first appearance for the club, presenting well at centre half forward. Nathan Morrow was again in the thick of it, while Noah Everett showed plenty of dash and run.

Seniors

The Seniors produced a solid four-quarter effort and took it right up to our more fancied opponents. Our pressure was first rate and our ball movement showed significant improvement, providing plenty of encouraging signs for the future. Bayleigh Tate was a pillar of strength in defence before going down injured in the final quarter. Russo and Derbas were dynamic through the midfield, while Ryan Smyth provided a strong target up forward. Cooper Hein also made an outstanding senior debut and looked right at home at the level.
