Round 1 Away v Moulamein 11/4/26

13 & Under Reserve

The girls had a great first game today with coach Belle Morton guiding them this year. All had a ball and played together beautifully. They managed to hold Moulamein to just 1 goal, while Sunny Spitty and Mia Bray shot a whopping 16 goals in the first quarter. The girls continued to charge ahead and came away with a 25 goal win.

13 & Under

Like our reserve team, the 13 and under’s had a win under the guidance of Ange Morton. We were able to keep Moulamein to just 3 goals in the first quarter, but they came back hard in the remaining 3 quarters. Ending in a bit of a closer game with the girls winning by just 6 goals.

15 & Under

The girls played extremely well together in their first game with lots of rolls and combinations. Stella Ettershank is a welcomed addition back in to the blue and white dress after 2 seasons away and she shot impeccably. Abbey Wishart is another new player who is a wonderful addition to the side, she played a very good role in the defence early but also switched into goals. Eve Murray played a determined and controlled game through the midcourt with great composure and feeding into goals.

17 & Under

The girls had a massive win in their first game, blowing Moulamein out of the water with a 65 goal win. Ava McCombe was a standout in her first game in the blue and white dress, her attack and drive to the ball was done with great intensity and she shot brilliantly. Ivy Shea was strong at both ends of the court, letting nothing past her in GK and combining well with Ava in attack.

B Reserve

Close game through out with no more than a few goals in it at any time. A great effort for a team of girls who haven’t played together much at all. Zantie Williams was a standout, her shooting was accurate and she was a reliable target under the post. Grace Mathers was steady and reliable through the C, always an option and directing the play as needed.

B Grade

The girls had a slower start, still learning each other’s play style, and trailed by 2 at quarter time. From the second quarter, they gelled beautifully and took control, finishing with a 9-goal win. Kez McDougall was outstanding in defence, leading strongly off turnovers, while Jess Ryan dominated in the goal ring with great experience and communication.

A Reserve

It was a strong start for the girls, securing a 37-goal win despite limited time playing together. Their teamwork and composure were evident throughout the game. Ava McCombe was consistent across all positions, starting at GS with accurate shooting, moving to WA with precise feeds, and finishing at C where she controlled play with energy and confidence. She is certainly one to watch this season. In defence, Mila Bray was outstanding in GD, producing clean intercepts and strong drives to transition

the ball. Her impact lifted in the final quarter, with excellent vision and relentless effort helping secure the convincing win.

A Grade

The girls started strong and kept the intensity high for the entirety of the game, taking home a massive 49 goal win in their first game together. There were plenty of rolls and combination changes, none of which seemed to phase the team. Katie Carmichael starred at both ends of the court, demonstrating her slick skills and providing leadership, while Lauren Morrow and Mary Yates-Ward were back as our dynamite mid-court duo, executing perfect angles and delivering fire feeds to the goalies. A special mention to Ava McCombe on making her A Grade debut, a consistent and versatile young player with a bright future ahead.

Under 12's

What a game to start kick start the season. The team did an amazing job with it coming down to the final minutes ending in a draw. Indi Millard was a star in the ruck giving our mids first use of the footy. Emmett Frankel kicked 2 goals and Riley Danson was solid in defence. A great team effort.

Under 15's

It was a great effort by all our 15s boys. Jobe Hein had the ball on a string. Zane McKerrow was a great target up forward kicking 4 goals. It was a great first game from our new twins Ryan and Matt. It was also great our boys happily heading over onto Moulameins team to even the sides up it showed great sportsmanship and also helped us coaches out a lot.

Under 18's

No Game

Reserves

After being challenged in the first half, the Seconds responded to some stern words from the coach to run out solid winners. The side had a much younger look, and the young lads led the way, with Cooper Hein, Reid Jolliffe and Brayden Barry all impressing.

Seniors

The Seniors were slow out of the blocks and couldn’t match Moulamein Football Club in the first half. Some structural changes and a lift in effort brought us back into the game in the third quarter, but we couldn’t sustain it and fell away late. A major highlight was the scintillating debut of livewire Leo Ellison, who combined well in attack with fellow young gun Sam Copland. Ben Kamaric was busy before injury, while Shannahan, Derbas and Morison were among our better players.
