Mallee Eagles Club Notes Round 3 V Koondrook-Barham FNC

Round 3 was a successful day for the Mallee Eagles, with some great wins. Despite the wet conditions after a 
generous rain, it was still a beautiful day, with everyone warmed by the sun. Thank you to all our club 
volunteers for running another smooth home game. 

Anzac Day Round 
On behalf of the Mallee Eagles Board and Committee, we thank the Koondook Barham Football Netball Club 
for participating in our ANZAC Day service. We are fortunate to have our very own past player and current 
coach, Luke Roberts, who had the honor of tossing the coin. Luke served for our country, and we pay our 
respects to past, present, and future service men, women, and their families.                                                                      
A special thank you to club board member Darren Scott for organizing this event. 

Social Club 
The evening event for Round 3 was Trivia Night. Congratulations to Bon McGregor and Zac O’Meara, who won 
the main prizes. Hamish McGregor was the most consistent participant for the night. 
This weekend, after playing Woorinen, everyone is invited to have dinner at the club sponsor, 128 Doors. We 
hope to see you there! 

Coming up is Ladies Day on the 10th of May, all welcome. Come along for an enjoyable afternoon. All profits will 
be donated to Swan Hill District Health Cancer Services. iPod shuffle in the late evening. All welcome  
Under 12s – Coach Craige Kennedy 

From The Junior Coaches: 
A great effort by the Under 12 boys in muddy conditions. Great to see the development in everyone skills after 
just a few games. Well done. Awards went to A.Bissett, L Bennett, B.Thorneycroft and W Parkinson. 

Under 15s – Coaches Clint Cummins and Luke Roberts 
7 def by 83 
A hard fought contecnt for the inder 15s this weekend against a very strong Koondrook Barham team. A slow 
starting first quarter made way for a more competitive final three quarters where the boys were able to score 
through Haani Fox’s sensational goal sense. Awards to Amon Roberts, D.Wright, B Shepherd, K Wells, 
H.Manaul and T.Doran 

Under 17s – Coach Stuart McGregor  
43 def by KB 89 
Despite facing a bigger and well-drilled KB side, our boys competed strongly for three quarters. Jobe was a 
standout in the ruck, using his voice and winning the ball well, while Parso was best on ground with 
outstanding intercept marking and groundwork. Juddy impressed up forward, and Charlie had mixed results, 
taking marks but missing shots and spoiling teammates' chances. Hunter Wells kicked a great running goal, 
and Oscar played strongly on the wing. Fitness and communication were areas that need improvement. 
Awards went to Louie, Brodie, Nash, Jack, Oscar, and Amon. 

13 Reserves – Coach Sarah Young  
18 defeating KB 16 
U13 Reserves come away with their first win by 2 goals to a determined Koondrook Barham. Each player gave a 
consistent effort across the game our highlights being the ball movement down the court and a few passages 
of play even the a grade would be jealous to see.  After a solid third quarter, the girls should be proud of their 
composure in the last quarter, staying on top of the enthusiastic raiders. Awards to: M.Wells, A., Parsons, 
L.Milley 

13s – Coaches Bec Bergland and Jas Rollinson  
23 defearting KB 65 
U13s The Mallee Eagles delivered a stunning performance, defeating KB with a commanding display of defense 
and teamwork. The Eagles’ defenders dominated the midcourt, intercepting passes and shutting down KB’s 
offensive plays with remarkable precision. The defensive pressure from Leni and Stella allowed Laine and Pearl 
to transition quickly, and showcased excellent coordination, converting opportunities with clinical accuracy. 
The combination of a tight defense and seamless offensive partnership ensured a well-earned victory for the 
Mallee Eagles. Awards: E.Carrison, L.Delmenico, S.Scott 

15s - Coaches Mikayla O’Meara and Hayley Hovenden 
13 def by KB 65 
The girls played very well this week, remaining consistent and positive despite coming up against a strong side. 
We can see so many improvements each and every week, and this week we noticed the team starting to gel 
and work really well together. Some of the girls were placed in positions they’ve never played before; however 
they took it on and played a great game. Very proud of how they all played this week.  Awards: J.Sutton, C.North 

17s – Coaches Emma Brown and Christine O’Meara  
45 def by KB 46 
Unfortunately, the U17 had a tough day, going down by 1 goal in the last 2 minutes, after holding a narrow lead 
all game.  All players gave it everything for the four quarters, whilst not the result we were hoping for, there were 
positives to take away from the game, and several things we can continue to work on to build this exciting
