“Round 3"

Bloody hell, who would have thought that would be the result of our encounter with the Eagles, the flag favourites, it was a huge wakeup call for our senior team, having said that it was really only one and a half qtrs. of footy that that put us on the back foot!. We never recovered from that early onslaught, maybe it’s the old story i.e. once we go past Kerang we are up against it!. The Ressy’s didn’t fare any better as they were also outplayed by a much better side. Thankfully all our junior sides i.e. U 12’s, U15’s & Colts won to keep our flag flying. Don’t forget we are still running our “Find the Footy” competition, it’s along the lines of Joker Poker, how it works is you buy a raffle ticket or two, they are $5 each which puts you in the draw, if your name gets drawn out you pick a card from the board and if you find the footy you get the designated prizemoney, last week Jacob Barrington & Julie Frankling missed so it now jackpots to $250.00, it will jackpot another $50 every week until someone “finds the footy”. Memberships are still available plus get dressed up for the footy/netball as we have plenty of Raiders apparel available.

Awards in the Seniors went to Lee Dale (Counterpoint Man of the Day). Benji Neal (HMF Award), Jacob Barrington (Raiders towel), and finally Matt Bilton (Barham Hotel voucher). Others to play well were Harry Bremner and Lachy Bates. The Ressy’s awards went to Joel Davidson (Wes Hare Scooby of the Day), Danny Main (Matesy’s voucher), Louis Cain (Mitre 10 award), and Jake Lowry (Barham Hotel voucher). The Colts awards went Kynan Laursen (Raiders Socks), Jaxon O’Rourke  (Don Taylor Pen), Jye Hamilton (Wilma Bott Canteen voucher), and Mitch Lowry (Hard Yakka HMF). Coaches Cash went to Parker O’Neill. Dudley “Bibs” Bibby played his 50^th game for the Raiders last Saturday, congrats “Bibs”.

Okay, back on our home ground this week, we play one of our arch rivals in Kerang who have continuously towelled us up over the past few years, hopefully we can turn that around from this week on and start evening the ledger up!, so wins in all grades of football and netball are a necessity!..
